CM Dialogue with the Rakyat on Land Conversion

Chief Minister of Penang, YAB Lim Guan Eng held a dialogue session with residents in Bayan Baru, Penang on 1 January 2009 on the conversion of leasehold low-and-medium-cost flats to freehold status. The CM has also announced that the state government would conduct a survey to gauge the response of the people to the proposal to exempt these owners from paying a premium to convert their leasehold title to freehold.

The event was hosted by the State Assemblyman of Pantai Jerejak, YB Sim Tze Tzin as Pantai Jerejak is the constituent with many low and medium cost PDC flats, estimated to be about 54 blocks.

YB Sim would prepare a petition containing the signatures of those who agree to the policy which will then be presented to the Federal Government.
